Burke loved being here so much that he cut and tried to get a good time!

This was taken near the start line right before we took off.

This was at the finish line. My 2 friends Gaylene on my right and Olga on my left finished with Olga- 2:12 and Gaylene- 2:13. They came to run alongside me and encourage me to finish at 2:20:42. What fun this was. I wish my whole family would do this with me. It was about 8.5-9.0 Miles of uphill and 4 miles flat or downhill. It was exactly what they named it for- the Rim Country Challange. I averaged about 10:45 min. miles. kinda slow but I did it and that's all I wanted! Was to finish.

Jason kept the kids busy playing at the park and feeding the ducks while I ran. They also met me at mile 6.5 (halfway) to encourage me and give me some energy before I hit Airport Rd. (tough uphill). I love my sweet husband and my kids. It was so fun having them there to cheer me on. Burke at first said " Mom, I'm so glad you won!" Then the next day after he thought about it he said, " Mom, you were slow. Alot of people came in before you!" I think I am addicted and I want everyone to come, who wants to do it with me? Our next run is a 5k at Gilbert Days!!

This night was a blast. We started with a yummy dinner made by Heidi and Jenny. Then we went to a taste testing night for Jodee Dillard and her sisters for the sweet shop they are starting online.

Back to Heidi's for a fun night of christmas carols and making all the pine garlands for Danie's wedding. Well, not all. Some. A few. Let's just say we have a ton more to do. AHHHHH!

Labor Day Weekend!

While everyone left town for this weekend we decided to stay and it ended up really fun. We took all the kids to IHOP in the morning on Sat. then over to the Freestone Rec Center. We played raquetball, ran on the suspended track, climbed the rock wall, played ping-pong, and even played a little tennis. The kids are still talking about it and it cost us a whole $8 for the whole family for the day! This is Cari and Cortney on the suspended track.

Later that day we took Kenzie to Ross and found a "big girl" comforter to match Cortney's. She loves the room now.

This picture has nothing to do with this week I am just tired of looking at that ugly picture of me after running!!

I am really upset about just writing on the blog. I can not find my camera and I think I left it at Ryan's baptism last Saturday. We can't find it anywhere. We had a fun busy week. The young women watched the boys play softball, Jason and I were able to get to the Temple on Friday. We tried out a new restaurant called Sauce. It was pretty tasty. I choose a big pasta dish for my run the next morning. We got into the 7pm session. It was really awesome. I wish we could have been in the session with Mike. It was fun to see Mike and sit and talk with him on Wed. night. I sure miss all our Missouri cousins. We can't wait to see you for the wedding. Sat. night Jason and I had the exciting opportunity to chaperone the youth dance. Wow! What a flash back! It was quite an experience. Before the dance our street had a block party. It was really fun. One of the neighbors pulled all their band equipment out on their driveway, pulled the seats out of their 15 passenger van and we had a real concert. If I had my camera you could have all seen some really fun pics of our neighbors. I love this street and neighborhood! Last Friday was a back to school pizza party at the church. All of our street was invited and we had quite a turn out. It was a lot of fun.
Mckenzie was the youth speaker for church today. She did a really good job writing a talk all by herself. I did direct her to one quote from Ezra T. Benson but the rest was all her. She is getting so big. She is the Pres. of the Beehive class and is working so hard on making the right choices. I'm so thankful for her. I need to rub Jason's feet. My eternal duty! Bye.

I haven't posted for almost a Month!! I still love my family I just am super busy. Which reminds me I have to take dinner to a family in our ward by 5:00 today ahhh! Ever since school started I can't find the time to get everything done. My kids attend Gilbert School District now which means no buses. I drive kids to and from 6 times in one day passing through 13 school zones. My odds of not getting a ticket aren't very great, you know where I am going with this! Court date Sept. 10th- that's 2 days. I was not guilty though and I hope the judge sees it my way. This week is clean the house week and most of my time is consumed with christmas. Yep! I think of it all year. I love you all. I will get some pics on soon.

We got a good rate on a room in Paradise Valley for one night. Went out to eat, got up and went running, laid by the pool and then went to the temple to do sealings! an awesome end to our anniversary. What a great reminder of the promises we made and those made to us. I love the Temple!! Thank you to Jen and Brian for watching our kids! We love you.

We had a full week that's why I haven't got on and blogged. Sorry everyone.
Wed. and Thurs. all the kids spent the day and night with thier "aunt" Kellie, Jason's cousin. They loved being with her and she spoiled them to death. They didn't want to come home. Then from 1:00-3:00 on Thurs. we took Mckenzie to her 7th grade orientation at Greenfield Jr. She loved going and seeing the school and getting a feel for 7th grade away from the "little" kids.

Sat. was the trip to Canyon Lake with all of our youth in our ward. They all had a blast tubing and wake boarding. Sometimes I think the leaders of the youth plan these activities for themselves because we really had alot of fun too.

Getting Tired!

I went running this morning with Kenyon and Amy. They were keeping up a pretty fast pace of about 9 minute miles. I only could keep that pace for 2 miles and then I slowed my speed to about 5.8 miles an hour. Monday is always tough. I am changing my plan for trainging for this 1/2 marathon. I realize that I love lifting weights too much to give it up so I'm going back to 2 days a week lifting and 4 days running. I hope that will keep up my strength. It sounds like Jenny, Mom, Heidi, Amy and Stephanie are all getting into the exercise groove! I love it girls. Remember that the Nephite women were as strong as their men and beared their burdens well. Let's keep up with them. Love you all. Cleanin today and getting ready for this weekend lake trip.

Kenzie had stake volleyball with the young women so we made it a family affair. She really wanted us to come watch her. Danie called right before we left and wanted to come with us. It was so fun to have her there.

Trip to See Jenny and Kanon in Tucson

We went to see Jenny last Thursday and Friday. It was a blast and we wish everyone could have been with us! Jenny needed the company and when I am done with this cold we will be down again. It was a fun trip with all the kids. They loved the kids center at the hospital along with the awesome food in their cafetieria. We also took them to see the Space and Airplane Museum which even the girls thought was COOL!

Happy 4th everyone! We had a fun weekend up in the cool pines. The Burke family reunion was a lot of fun with some rain storms and even some hail. All the cousins got to spend fun times together out with Heavenly Fathers beautiful creations. We love being in the mountains! We love you all!!

I'm so excited to have learned how to take our own family names to the temple. I printed these off on Wed. night and yesterday I went and did baptisms, confimations and initiatories for the skinner, Walrath and Jewett line!! So exciting. Then I treated myself to a salad from Costa Vida cuz I was starving after being in the temple for a few hours. Last night I showed Heather how to do it and if anyone wants to call I will tell you how. Me and Heather learned last night that alot of research needs to be done on our family line. So if anyone wants to help I'd be LOVIN' IT!! I love you all.

This is our awesome $250 piano!!

We made cookies and bread today! Bread is almost $5 a loaf now and I'm not about to spend that. This is the Jesse Smith recipe that you gave me mom. It was awesome, perfect, soft inside and a little crunchy crust. I made 4 all by hand with no mixer but we already ate one for lunch! This is my favorite way to make bread. Kenzie and Cari will be making it about 2 times a week. Tomorrow we are going to make "hang-out" pants (kenzie, cari and lauren).

The Hiking Addicts!

This is the hike up Silly Mountain in April with 2 families that live on our street. I organized it and invited everyone on our street as a missionary effort but only these 2 families could come. It was alot of fun.

This is a picture on the Lost Dutchman's Mine trail when Danie came with us. Danie and I are training for the Rim Country Challenge Payson Half Marathon in Sept. We'll see if she goes. Blair will be home and all she'll want to do is be with him. She has been exercising alot though and I know she could accomplish this with me. Jason says he'll wait for me at the finish line!

These pictures were taken in Oct. of 2007 when we hiked the Bright Angel Trail into Phantom Ranch. 20 miles in and out in 7 hours baby! Beat that Anton, Sterling and Peter!! We love you all. Come hike with us!!

In the begining of the Trek we were given a family and now I know how mom and Colette feel. Sorry, Dad and Mike too. I had 13 kids for 4 days and it was so much fun. This top picture is us.

I had to get one with Todd and Cheryl Christensen for Colette. They were Ma's and Pa's with us. What a blast they are. This picture was taken on "Pioneer Sabbath" right before the big fireside. Pres. Pugmire gave an amazing sermon and they asked all the youth to stand and raise thier arm to the square and covenant to always be worthy to take the sacrament, enter and attend the temple and the young men covenanted to serve a mission. They promised all the youth in attendance (he specifically said not all the youth in the stake only those that were obedient to come on the trek) wonderful blessings from our Heavenly Father. It was incredible!! The spirit was very strong.

The mountain in the background is the "Rocky Ridge" that each family (19) had to push thier handcarts up, and bring them down again. This event occured 45 min after the "women's pull". To say the least we were spent and slept very well that night. Jason nor I heard the bear that ran right past us in the night that Bro. Judd chased out of camp!Ahhh! The picture of Jason and I with our sweet Mckenzie is taken sideways and I don't know how to turn it so when I figure that out I will post it. She did very well. The entire Trek was about 18 miles. We love those strong pioneers. They suffered so much for us. What an experience!

All the men were called away to the "Mormon Battalion" and us little ole women had to bring 19 loaded handcarts up the side of a mountain! It was an amazing experience. Words can't describe the spirit that attended us during this experience. Bro. Judd from our ward who works for the sheriff department crowned me "Ma of the trek" and let me try on his holster! Whatever, every woman up there was amazing!
